Sue, just look that manager in the eye (probably not hard
to find, since with a comment as you're claiming s/he made,
there's most likely only one...) and quietly reply, "I
thought we were both working for the same company...have
I misconstrued our mutual interest?".
But you'd better do it soon, because that manager will probably
be working somewhere else next month...if you're lucky. Reminds
me of a very large, blue employer that had me once...
And, Alexander's right...QA people are valuable allies. Having
been there, they should regard you in the same way...
so feed 'em as much info. and coffee as you can afford. It's
not a bad career path choice, either, if you're a quality zealot.
