Hello, I'm new to this list but have enjoyed the discussions
I've seen recently. I'm a British tech author based in the UK.

One of the other authors here has used a tool called
Fontmonger to create our own Firefox font which contains
various icons that we use frequently in the manuals we write.

Fontmonger is produced by a company called Ares Software
Corporation.

Their address is:

Ares Software Corporation
PO Box 4667
Foster City,
CA 94404-4667

Voice: (415) 578-9090
Fax: (415) 378-8999

I did not use it myself so I can't comment on how easy it
is to use. I'm not sure if you can convert screen fonts
but according to the manual :-), you can convert the
following fonts:

Windows 3.1 TrueType fonts
ATM PostScript Type 1 fonts
Intellifonts
Nimbus Q fonts
CorelDraw fonts
Lasermaster LXO fonts
Bitstream Fontware fonts converted to PostScript Type 3
NeXT PostScript Type 1 fonts
Macintosh TrueType and PostScript Type 1 fonts

Hope this might be of some use.

BTW, I have absolutely no connection with Ares Software
Corp.
