nroff and troff are way too hard for most people to bother with learning.
Almost everyone who uses them does so through the intermediary of a macro
package.
Given the availability of high quality WYSIWYG publishing programs, it's not
worth the effort to learn how to write nroff/troff macros. However, if
you're stuck working in a unix environment without a good publishing
package, it's probably worth your while to find a macro package that meets
