I did. Taped it, too. (um, did I have permission to do this?) Used the
downlink as the excuse to hold the First STC meeting in my area. Went well,

What did I think? A tad dull but worthwhile, and too bad they didn't get more
callers, but the subject matter needs to be addressed. If you're concerned
about certification (and we all ought to be at least interested), it's a good
atart at getting the word out. Having the fellow from the life sciences was a
good idea. Gave us some been there, done that input.

I think the idea of certification in separate fields is good in principle,
but I have doubts about workability. Tech writing isn't as neatly divisible
as, say, the medical profession's division into specialties seems to be.

I'd like to see some kind of generic certification, roughly equivalent to
having a bunch of competent peers read some of your stuff and say with a
certificate that they think you can write.

Whatever we end up doing, if a credential is developed, I'll try to get it.
