Tim Lewis inquires about writing before (or at concurrent with) a new
product.

I was just pushed in the same boat. I got the impression that Tim's
contracting. I with a company, so my options are probably different.

From day one, we attended every meeting we could: we didn't wait
to be invited. Also we got to know the players really well (friendship
wins over chain of command every time).

We're anticipating a rewrite after a year or so (management may rethink
the wisdom of simultaneous documentation -- this is extra work and time).
I guess that what I'm saying is, "The writing *is* preliminary, even if
we don't call it so.

I'll be interested to follow this thread over the next few months...
