OCTOBER MEETING
SGML IN THE WORKPLACE
Ruthann Fowler will focus on how SGML is used, typical tools,
implementation issues such as conversion vs. native authoring, and
impacts on practitioners and managers. If you are in the
decision-making process, this presentation will broaden your
perspective.
Ruthann Fowler owns RAF Communications, a San Francisco-based
technical communications company specializing in online help,
electronic books, and instructional design. She has been in the
computer industry and technical communications for over twenty years
and has worked with technology companies throughout the Bay Area.
Ruthann developed and taught "Managing People in Publications" for
the Managing Publications Certificate Program at UCSC and has taught
"Fundamentals of Technical Writing" at Media Alliance. She has
developed curriculum for the Communication Arts and Information
Technologies program at Vista College and was Co-Director of the 1992
Northern California Technical Publications Competition.
As founding Director of the Northern California SGML Users Group and
