Here's one of my favorite quotes on innovation:

"It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission."

I'm sure someone is responsible for this gem, but I don't know who.

Being innovative is important. When we strike out and create a solution for
someone else's REAL problem, we suddenly become part of the team. (Caveat:
Innovation is good, but apply it where it's needed. Don't try to fix
something that ain't broken.)
