In a message dated 95-08-11 12:50:22 EDT, you write:

>Our technical publications department wants to provide a client with an
on-site graphical user interface application through which they may access,
view, and print documents from a library of our documentation (manuals,
>tech. bulletins, etc.).

Last year I worked on a project very similar to this at Bell South in
Birmingham AL. We were taking the SOP's for the different computer systems
they have an put them into electronic document format. We used Interleaf for
the input mode, World View for the viewing/searching mode and RDM (Relational
Document Management) for the document database that would keep track of all
the different doc's and their various pieces. We developed a specific
catalog (Interleaf) for the on-line version and a separate catalog for h/c
printing. We had hyperlinks between the toc and the doc and they were
talking about putting in hyperlinks in various other places.

One thing you will have to do when all the software is in place and BEFORE
you start - set up you style guide and I-leaf document catalog (if using
I-leaf)! Going back and implementing changes in the catalog after several
doc's had been input is a MAJOR PAIN!
