I am using (er, trying to use) a program called Dan Bricklan's demo it!
at work. Unfortunately, the program is very limited in its interactivity.
Also unfortunate is the fact that my company just purchased the $300
program, and is unlikely to be easily swayed into buying another program
instead.
However, I am going to give it my best shot. Taking the suggestion of one
of my comrades on this list, I'm going to prepare a proposal, explaining
how another program would better serve our needs. What I'd like help with
is your recommendations for what multimedia applications you use, what
you feel are their strong points, how much they run (if you know), and so on.
By multimedia, I don't necessarily mean that it has to do video clips and
music, but rather that it will accept data input from the user, and that
it creates easily maintainable tutorials.
