There are many shareware and freeware packages that convert to/from
.AU format and .WAV format. Several are available on SimTel
(FTP:oak.oakland.edu/SimTel/msdos/sound). One of the most popular
programs, available on both the PC and UNIX platforms, is called
"SOX". The file is named "sox7dos.zip" and can be found in the
aformentioned directory. SOX permits file conversion to/from many
different formats including .AU, .SND, .VOC and .WAV.
There is also another less complicated program in the same directory
called "sun2voc.zip". That converts from .AU to Creative Labs' .VOC
format.
