POSITION: Technical Writer/Sr. Technical Writer
LOCATION: Pittsburgh
Availability: NOW!
Will consider both consultants and permanent candidates. Up to two positons
are available.
POSITION REQUIRES:
B.S. or B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Writing and Editing,
or related field. M.S. desirable.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 1 year experience producing user documentation, from planning
through production; tasks include documentation project planning, document
design, writing, coordinating reviews, revisions, copyediting, and managing
production and delivery of final copy. Types of documents include technical
briefs, newsletters, user manuals, and on-line documentation.
Proficiency in use of Unix and MacIntosh or PC document production tools
including, word processors, document formatting/page layout software, graphics
software.
Proven skill as a professional writer, as demonstrated in writing samples.
Familiarity with X-terminals and UNIX workstation environment, PC's or
MacIntosh, as well as VAX/VMS environment.
Familiarity with software engineering/development environments and under-
standing of the dynamics of such environments, and the ability to handle the
impact of those dynamics on the documentation development process (i.e the
ability to gather information from software engineers/technical experts;
flexibility in dealing with the occasional unpredictability of software
development projects)
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
Framemaker on Unix
Familiarity with Unix workstations (Sun)
Familiarity with the DoD domain
EMACS and Scribe on VAX/VMS
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Design and write software user documentation for U.S. Transcom Medical
Evacuation Planning software application. Work the complete documentation
development process for the project, including writing, reviews, revisions,
and production. Provide support to team members for project-related documen-
tation.
