$50 an hour is not uncommon for an experienced tech writer
contractor in Silicon Valley.

$50 an hour for 50 weeks is $100,000 without benefits.
Currently, there is work for 52 weeks if you want it.
I have never heard of anyone making $100,000 plus benefits,
but it is possible.

On a similar topic, the Northern California STC just released
a salary survey completed by 540 STC members in the six chapters.
Median salary was $53,500. The top 10% made over $79,000.
20% of the 540 are full-time contractors.

The 50-page survey is for sale. For details, e-mail
