Re: Citing personal conversations and e-mail

_The Chicago Manual of Style_ (14th ed.) (para. 15.265) suggests:

name of the interviewee, name of the interviewer, a description of
the type of interview conducted; the place and date of the interview.

_Chicago_ isn't very helpful with e-mail, but advise (in para. 15.424)
that the International Standards Organization continues to modify a
uniform system of citing electronic documents. The ISO suggests following
the "'accepted practice for the language...in which the information is
given.'"

The _MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers_ (4th ed.) suggests:

last name, first name. type of communication. date (para. 4.10.7 and
4.10.8)

Smith, John. E-mail to the author. 2 June 1995.

Smith, John. Personal interview. 2 June 1995.

Hope this helps.

Hal
