The University of Wisconsin's Department of Engineering Professional
Development will be running two SGML programs in June in Madison,
Wisconsin. Please redistribute this announcement as appropriate.

Creating Structured Documents
June 15-16

This two-day entry-level course is directed at publications staffs in
organizations that produce manuals, catalogs, and online documentation. The
course assumes no previous experience with SGML. It explores structured
documents, SGML, and the attendant new work processes they introduce. Key
focus areas include SGML assessment, document analysis techniques, and
migration to SGML. The instructor is technical publishing consultant
Liora Alschuler.

Implementing an SGML Publishing System
June 20-23

This four-day advanced course is aimed at SGML implementors including
analysts, programmers, format developers, and managers of SGML
implementation efforts, or managers responsible for developing corporate
documentation. Some familiarity with SGML is strongly recommended. Focus
areas include document analysis, DTD development, SGML constructs, document
database development, and conversion and migration issues. The instructors
are Dale Waldt, Data Development Manager at Thomson Professional
Publishing, and Brian Travis, President of the SGML consulting group
Information Architects, Inc.
