Most of us do have PCs or Macs at home, and I agree with those who
state that we should be prepared to use (or learn to use) whatever
machines and applications prove necessary for a particular job.
However, I must correct something Chuck Melikian wrote (I think
he was serious):

No one has a Sparcstation at home. :-)

Maybe that smiley face meant that Chuck wasn't serious. Nevertheless,
I must say that I know 2 people who do have Sparcstations at home.
They are freelance programmers who command big bucks by the hour,
and these machines are essential for their work.

The day may not be far off when those PCs and Macs we have at home
will be replaced by newer versions of those machines that are
equivalent to today's Sparcstation. Given the trend line in computer
development, that day is probably less than 10 years away.
