TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
One of our SF Bay Area STC chapters puts out a Bay Area Networking Guide. It
lists all of the firms they could find in the area who hire technical
communicators. Each listing contains contact information, a list of the
kinds of communicators they hire, and an indication of whether or not they
hire freelancers.
The book is about 200 pages in an open format with lots of blanks for
information they weren't able to obtain. It probably lists 400 to 500 hiring
firms.
If there's a hidden job market in the Bay Area, this is probably where to
find it. ...RM
