The receiving chapter will probably be happy to help you out.

You can try through STC in Virginia, but allow for the D.C. influence
and expect anything but results.  I've been there.

 I am hoping someone out there can help me out. I am currently a member of
 the San Fernando chapter of STC and I'd like to change to the
 Sierra-Panamint chapter. How do I go about doing this "officially"?

 It's not that there is anything wrong with the San Fernando chapter, it's
 just too far from where I live and work. I've been a member for over a year,
 but I have yet to actually attend a meeting because of the driving distance.
 Sierra-Panamint is closer.
