In case anyone cares, William Gibson introduced his idea of cyberspace in
the following trilogy:
_Neuromancer_
_Mona Lisa Overdrive_
and
_Count Zero_.
He then wrote an "SF" book called _The Difference Engine_ which takes place
in the Victorian era . I'm not sure what he's written since then.
I know this isn't an SF list, but the thing I found fascinating about his
trilogy was the concept of the "sims" (VR entertainment) doing what drugs
and TV do for us today. I don't recall any of Gibson's characters ever
reading anything.
I'm afraid that the death of paper might mean the death of reading and
hence the end of an informed public.
