Editorial Services, the medical editing department of The Hospital for Sick
Children, has an immediate opening for an experienced editor. You will
edit medical and scientific manuscripts and textbook chapters for scholarly
publication, as well as medical information materials prepared by
health-care professionals for parents and patients. Working in partnership
with the Director, you will also teach medical and scientific writing
skills and perform some administrative duties.
You have an arts or science degree, strong English language skills,
excellent technical and non-technical writing skills, knowledge of medical
terminology and major clinical and research journals, familiarity with
Macintosh computers, and superior interpersonal skills. A minimum of two
years' experience in medical or scientific editing and teaching writing,
and excellent on line editing skills are essential.
