My hang-up, I concede, is indexes. And it just so happens
that just the other day, after having shelled out inflated
money for a "state of the art" book on object-oriented
database systems (OODBMSes--or, if you're from Brooklyn,
"Oh-h-h, duh bums!"--), I thumbed to the back to find a
one-page (count it...) index for this 600-p. volume.

To be learned from this is, I feel:

1. Don' buy nothin' by mail that y' ain't hel in yer hand--
as Uncle Ralph often said but I had to learn the hard
way again;

2. Bear in mind a book named, "Modern Database Systems", from
Addison-Wesley Pub's., as a less-than-desirable reference
resource...

3. Resolve in the new year to improve your indexing acumen...
do I get my free lunch now, Lorrie?
