If the only cost to the employee is a little management time and some office
space, an internship can provide many benefits:

o I think lots of companies can use temporary cheap labor.

o Many doc departments have tasks that experienced writers consider drudgery.
Hiring an intern is a great way to get these tasks completed. Combine drudgery
with a small project and you have a great way to occupy an intern for a few
months.

o Hiring interns is a great way to recruit junior writers. You can mold the new
writers while they're learning, get an idea of the work ethic they have, etc.,
without the risks and costs of standard recruiting.
