Since a light source has no length, I (seriously) don't know what that
means. From you diagram, you have the light from the window coming in
on a path that's parallel to the face of the screen, and the light from
your lamps coming at you perpendicular to the screen. If all they mean
is "a light path perpendicular to the screen," that's not much advice,
because a user could put a lamp directly behind the monitor, or behind
their head, so you could see the bulb reflected in the screen.
Me, I have my monitor set to inverse video (white on black) and have a
window to one side like you do. I have a brass piano lamp with a 20
watt bulb in the far corner behind me -- only because people who expect
me to use my neon lights kept saying what a cave I work in. Now
everyone says the lamp makes it look like a den or a library.
