I have lived and worked abroad in several different environments.
Each was different; each was an adventure. Bureaucracy is
everywhere. The worst for me -- is the combination of the
British and Chinese in Hong Kong.
My standard of living was always whatever the locals experience
and that was, nearly always, of my own choosing.
I always learned something about myself in addition to whatever
I could pick up about the local scene.
And, I'm looking forward to the next adventure - - where ever it
is - - whatever it is. My passport is always in order and
within reach. I keep my shot list up to date; except for GG - I'm
always ready to go.
One of the Plains Indian Tribes (sorry, I don't recall which one),
has a ceremony; the Medicine Man speaks with the voice of the
Great Chief: 'I have made the world, see it'.
I'm trying to do just that. Also, remember - - life is not a
destination, life is a trip.
