That wasn't what I meant to say, but that certainly is the way it came out.
Vicki's right, both a total rejection of the new, as well as a total rejection
of the -old-, are wrong. Difficulties with on-line edits, as I'm sure many of
us have experienced, are but one example of where paper is still necessary
in our trade.

I think Vicki and I agree that Updike's remarks were, well, not exactly
words to live by.
