I'm amused by the number of people who seem to think "vetted" is
limited to Britspeak and isn't used in 'Murrican English.
I first encountered it while I was in grad school at Emory Univ
in Atlanta in the early sixties. When I came to Washington, I
found it in general usage here.
I'm always "vetted" for new jobs. They do it by checking my "bona
fides" which isn't too difficult since I have a DISCO number.
