I recommend The Foundation Center's "Guide to Proposal
Writing". Contact the Foundation Center, 79 fifth ave,
NY, NY 10003-3076, tel: 1-800-424-9836.
They have many other publications related to grant
writing. If the nonprofit is an environmental
one, than I know of another group that puts out
a very useful directory of environmental grantmaking
foundations (Environmental Data Research Institute,
1655 Elmwood Ave, Suite 225, Rochester, NY 14620,
tel: 716-473-3090 and 1-800-724-1857). There is also
a new USENET group called soc.org.nonprofit devoted
to nonprofit groups.
