If the interface is _not_ an issue, if you have a familiarity with
UNIX, or if you want to save money, I advise people to investigate
using a Public Access UNIX site for their Internet service provider.
If you want interactive chatting, there's IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
with over 5000 usually engaged at any one time. Mail is typically
free, and there's no charge (usually) for faster modems -- a big
plus if you plan on downloading files.
And don't forget that FTP, Telnet, Gopher, Mosaic, and Veronica
typically come with the service at no extra cost.
