Hi,

I have some questions about being a contractor. I have been thinking
about taking that path. I was thinking of doing what Karen Steele mentioned
in her post - sending letters and resumes to a bunch of places.

Questions:

Do you have to "sign-up" exclusively with a job shop? (In other words
are you committed to working for a particular place for a period of time?)

Do you think the salaries are dropping now that there are more people out
there looking for work?

Would you recommend starting out with a job shop before trying to go
independant? Pros and cons to either way?

About fonts:

I use helvetica and new century schoolbook for my resume. You probably
want to keep it to 2 fonts. Use Arial and TimesRoman if you don't have your
own PC and printer. Some companies have outplacement services and they provide
machines for resumes and printing.

PS. Got some good ideas for putting together a portfolio from the postings in
the last few days. Got some sheet protectors at Staples - some have a
tab on them. Got a simple 3 ring binder to put it all in.
