I received no fewer than *30* individual responses from
individuals who would like to meet at the STC Annual
Conference in Minneapolis. Actually it was more; about 5
persons replied to my first message but not to the more
recent message asking for votes.

Here are the voting results:
1. Sunday evening reception 15 votes
2. Monday breakfast 12
3. Wednesday breakfast 11
4. Monday dinner 8
5. Sunday afternoon 5
6. Tuesday evening 4

(I threw out the session ideas--not enough time
to chat.)
(Some folks chose more than one option.)
Evening meetings also received some "no" votes from some
very busy conference-goers.

*MY SUGGESTION*
As indicated by the votes, the most agreeable time is meeting
at the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening. It runs from 7 to 10.

I suggest that we all try to get to the reception early to
get in on the food (some of the buffets ran out of food last
year). Let's try to meet at 8:00 pm. (Finding 30 strangers
out of a crowd of 2,000 strangers will be quite interesting!)
Let's try to gather at the end of the room opposite the stage.
(See floor plan on p. 91 of your Program.)
I'll try to do something obvious, like hold a sign.

The reasons (provided by several voters) to meet on Sunday
evening include:
1. If we meet on Sunday, we'll know who we are the
rest of the conference.
2. Regional receptions are on the other evenings.
3. The breakfast tables only usually seat about 10 persons.
4. Folks are always in a hurry to eat their pasteries and
get to the sessions at the breakfasts.
5. I'm not a morning person! (me)

Some persons were getting in late on Sunday and preferred
to meet at Monday's breakfast. Perhaps we could make other
plans on-the-fly after meeting Sunday night. We could post
notices on the Message Board.

Well, I hope this works out. I'll see several of you
on Sunday, May 15th, at the Welcome Recption at the
Convention Center ballroom.
