Peter Kent's book _Technical Writer's Freelancing Guide_ has salary listings
from all across the country (including those in the 6 figures!). STC puts
out lists on salaries. I discussed the vast salary range for technical
communicators in my Master's thesis -- no consistency in that part of this
field.
