Preliminary CD-ROM Conference Announcement
and
CALL FOR PAPERS

The Third SIGCAT National Conference and Educational Symposium on
CD-ROM, will be held April 25-28, 1994 at the Sheraton Premiere,
Tysons Corner, Virginia. Presentation proposals for Technical
Papers and/or Poster Sessions concerning CD-ROM technology are
now being accepted. Presentations will be 15-30 minutes; poster
sessions should be designed for 1/2 - 2 1/2 days. Proposed
presentations will be reviewed by the Conference Program
Committee and acceptance given prior to the December publication
of the preliminary program and registration announcement.

Topics to be covered at the Conference:

CD-ROM Technology / Industry -- Hardware and Software,
Standards, Mastering Technologies, Authoring Tools, Readers
(Single or Multiple), CD-Recordable, Multimedia, and Networks.

CD-ROM Development / Management -- Project Planning, Program
Management, Data Acquisition, Serial Production Management,
Service Industry Support, and Case Studies.

CD-ROM Applications / Users -- Federal and Commercial Offerings,
Serial Publications, Collection Management, Unique uses in
Professions, CD-Recordable Applications, Data Archiving,
and Security.

SIGCAT, the Special Interest Group for CD-ROM Applications and
Technology, was organized in 1984 by those interested in
applications sponsored by the Federal Government. It now has a
membership of about 7,000 - with equal representation from
government, private users, and industry.

Proposals should consist of the Title and an Abstract (250 word
minimum) sent to one of the Program Chairs:
