Indeed these people do exist. I have worked with several engineers who are
extremely helpful with both reviews and equipment tours. Some, in fact, go to
great pains to make sure that the information is correct. Yesterday, one of
these engineers actually INVITED ME to come take a close look at the system
and walked me through some of the trickier procedures personally.

I don't think this is necessarily the norm, but it *does* happen.
