I'm a Sr. Software Tech. Writer in a software company, and I find that I'm
attracted to tech. writing as much for the software and technology as for
the writing. Ultimately, I'd like to become much more technical than I am
now ... if I could magically pull a CS or Engineering degree and knowledge
out of my hat, that would be the best.

I already have BA in English from an excellent liberal arts college, and
several people have been surprised to find that I'm a tech. writer, not a
software engineer. However, I need to surmount over the "you're not
technical enough" obstacle, and I'd like to develop some software
engineering skills. I can't go back to college (I need my income!), so
taking a course after work is really my only option. Boston has lots of
evening courses, but I need to develop some plan more cohesive than picking
a course more or less at random.

Does anyone out there have experience with this aspect of professional
development? Can anyone suggestion any resources?

Thanks,
Jane
