LaVonna,

You might point out that a number of mailing lists and Usenet/
Bitnet newsgroups provide information and experience with DTP and
other products, with indexing, writing formats, etc. This information
often is either hard to find in available manuals or is not there to
find. Such support is often available from product vendors only at
the additional cost of a long distance phone call, a customer support
charge, or both.

Your company has invested in an Internet port so that the
enterprise and your customers can benefit. So long as you do not
release proprietary information, your company can't help but
benefit from Internet use.

If this and any justifications provided by other subscribers
to this mailing list don't do the trick, try using the network before
and after normal business hours. If your manager still frowns on
your network activity, and if you own a personal computer with
modem or have access to one, contact your system administrator and
ask for dial in access for email only.

You might also consider changing your subscription to digest
using the SET TECHWR-L DIGEST command to LISTSERV. In digest mode
you, and your manager, won't see frequent email activity.
