SGML Again

Hi Again,

Since my last post on SGML (Standard General Markup Language), I've had some
very interesting responses/discussions. Thanks everyone! However, the situation
here has changed, and now I have more specific points I want to investigate.

I work in the Technical Communication department here at GE, and we've got
about 16 gigabytes of documentation on disk. At present, we use Interleaf
exclusively, and nearly all the documents are in this format. Some are vendor
documents that are just scanned-image files.

Anyone out there who has converted a large mass of documentation over to SGML,
or who has just considered (is considering) this kind of conversion: please
write about your experience. Anyone who has convinced management, and/or
another department that SGML is the way to go, I would like to hear from you
even more. This has suddenly leaped from a topic of idle (but professional)
interest, to something that requires me to do a presentation.

Also, has anyone used, even in early forms, the ISO standards being developed
for SGML "documents"?? I refer specifically to DSSSL and SPDL.
