I received a few requests for information about Keywords, so I figured
I'd pass it on to the whole list.
Keywords was written to be used with WordPerfect 5.0 and 5.1. (I used
it with WP/DOS 5.1.) It allows you to call up a macro, specify the
key on the keyboard for which you want a graphic, and the proper sized
graphics box magically appears in your text. (They give you
instructions on how to edit their macro to allow for different font
sizes, which may need differently sized graphics boxes.)
For example, there are graphics for all the letters and numbers,
function keys 1-12, home, end, page up, page down, backspace, shift,
ctrl, alt, arrow keys, etc. We used DrawPerfect to create a few of
our own, such as function keys 13-20, help, do, etc. Ours don't look
as polished as the ones that Keywords did, but they did the job.
Because of all the graphic boxes, our files became quite huge (the
finished product was a 200-page users' guide, which was well over 4 MB
when we were done). So if space is a problem, Keywords may not work
for you. Also, I sometimes have problems making sure there is enough
space between the graphic and the text. Otherwise, I have no
complaints. Keywords did exactly what I wanted it to do. (And no,
I'm not on commission!)
Keywords is made by Logix Development Corp. of California.
