Just want to follow up and say thanks for the responses so long ago.
FWIW, my style guide is for content contributors, which needs to be as
clear and unambiguous as possible to reduce inconsistencies in all content
(source and translated material) and help keep translation costs to a
minimum. While I like the brevity of a blanket guideline that says
something like, "Write clearly and the intended meaning will not be lost in
translation," that's too vague to help a team of content contributors,
particularly those who aren't professional writers by trade (e.g., support
reps & engineers), get on the same page.
