Like Lynne, I have support from management for being the sole TW.At any given time, I'm juggling a dozen customer facing documents. Management understands that priorities change and that due dates change as well.I've been a TW for over 20 years and this company is one of the best!Be Seeing You,ÂWill HusaÂSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

you'll be the only tech writer, with complete control over everything?" I'm a team of one too. When I took this job, I inherited a huge backlog of work to catch up on, but that's fine, because I have the absolute support of my managers and am not expected to meet unrealistic deadlines. The autonomy as well as a sense of job security more than makes up for the times when I'm completely swamped and have to work like a fiend. Sure beats past experiences of working in dysfunctional teams of writers who stymied progress and cooperation; or reporting to clueless managers who caused more stress with poor decision-making and more work with extra reporting and admin tasks. -----Original Message-----From: techwr-l-bounces+lynne -dot- wright=kronos -dot- com -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com <techwr-l-bounces+lynne -dot- wright=kronos -dot- com -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> On Behalf Of Cardimon, CraigSent: Thursday, May 23, 2019 11:12 AMTo: TechWhirl (techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com) <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com>Subject: "Is it a red flag in the hiring process if they tell you that you'll be the only tech writer, with complete control over everything?"Interesting column by Tom Johnson regarding sole technical writers.I was hired as one, and I remain our company's only tech writer. At this point, 13 years in, I am still enjoying the role. I like the work and I like the people. Here's the link:https://idratherbewriting.com/blog/red-flags-tech-writer-with-complete-control/Cordially,Craig CardimonSenior Technical WriterInformation contained in this e-mail transmission is privileged and confidential.
