The free QuickTime player has a record video/screen/audio mode. As an
editor, I think iMovie is still a free download and does what WMM does. But
there are a few third party tools that Iâd use instead of iMovie.

DaVinci Resolve and Hitfilm FX both have free versions of their non linear
editing tools that you can download by trading your email address.

HitFilm needed a $10 codec pack to support the Dolby encoded audio from
AVCHD files from my Canon camcorder.

DaVinci opened them without issue (unless the file was corrupted). Good
forum support.
