Subject:Re: DITA: going from FrameMaker to oXygen From:Yves Barbion <yves -dot- barbion -at- gmail -dot- com> To:rebecca officer <Rebecca -dot- Officer -at- alliedtelesis -dot- co -dot- nz> Date:Mon, 10 Dec 2018 11:21:33 +0100
Hi Rebecca
I have done many conversions from FrameMaker to DITA. I did a presentation
on this topic together with Scott Prentice (Leximation) at tekom tcworld
2013. You can still find the slides here:
I've been using FrameMaker since 1993 and I still like it, but I prefer
oXygenXML Author/Editor for
- Authoring DITA-structured content
- Publishing that content to HTML-based output, such as EPUB and
responsive webhelp
To publish the DITA maps to (customized) PDF, I use:
- FrameMaker + Leximation's DITA-FMx plugin
- MiramoDesigner and the MiramoPDF DITA-OT plugin
Both FrameMaker and MiramoDesigner have a nice graphical user interface to
design your templates for PDF, so there's no need to learn XSL-FO or
advanced CSS.
Cheers
Yves Barbion
