>From what i could tell by a quick skim of the consortium's home page, what's pertinent to tech comm would be the concept of delivering information in distinct little chunks (ie with DITA), rather than the traditional linear-document format.

So in that sense, I'd say that, yes, things seem to be headed in that direction, with people switching to writing content in tools based on HTML5.

Curiously enough, Andrew's post arrived in my Inbox while I was looking over the website for Adobe's online DiTA World conference. A minute or two later, I found out that one of the keynote speakers is Toni Ressaire, identified as (among other things) "a founding member of the Information 4.0 Consortium."

Clicking the helpful link at http://information4zero.org/, I see this idea-in-development is trying to put techcomm into a future world dominated by artificial intelligence. As they put it: "Information in cohabitation with IoT, Chatbots, and the future AI."

Sounds interesting, but don't have an opinion. It looks like the site is, at least in part, a set of discussion forums. Worth checking out, I think. There is a lot to think about moving forward.

G'day.

I've recently stumbled across the term, "Information 4.0" From what I
can find online, it seems rather nebulous and trendy. Curious to know whether anyone is moving in that direction with their documentation.
