If I understand correctly, you can try this.
- In Word, convert table to text (Table Tools - Layout).
- Remove lingering formatting, if any.
- Convert text to table (Insert > Tables)
You may want to skip the last step and import the table into Excel in text format.

Subject: Copying(?) and Pasting Work Tables into Excel?
I have a bunch of tables made in Word with shading and so forth that I need to pull into Excel. Just text, no formulas. Some cells will be grey, but I need to have individual ones be white, so that someone can hand-write something there.
These are two small examples, but they show that not everything is the same width or height. So far, I have not been able to discover a "good" way to do this, in spite of trying.
I hate to have to copy and paste cell by cell, but it may come to that.
Tips? Tricks?
I cannot paste as images because people after me may need to edit the content.
