Does anybody remember the big Mac screens that were actually LONG (not wide) -- so you could see a full page? Those days are not coming back.It is quite possible with some monitors and/or PCs to rotate the monitor and use as a portrait screen.
Some at our office have one landscape screen and one portrait screen on their PCs.
