Iâm interviewing with a large manufacturer on Friday. I have little
real data about salaries in the San Francisco bay area for tech writers
currently. I used salary.com, filling in a questionnaire, to generate a
salary range for that position with the experience/location/etc. you
enter.
It says âaverageâ (50th percentile) is $100K. Iâm thinking with
practical experience (I not only have experience writing these docs but
I am the target audience of the docs Iâll be writingâelectronics
repair), that adds value. Iâm thinking 20 percent above average is not
out of line.
How do yâall think about salary when lining up an interview and
possible offer?
