While this true for thumbnails in Windows 7, you can use the Preview Pane to
display the PDF.

I'm running Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (Version 6.1) on a Windows Home
Premium PC and a Windows Professional PC. 

In both computers, Windows Explorer will display a PDF in the Preview Pane.
In addition, you can scroll through the pages of the PDF.

Operating System question.
In my group of three tech writers, I'm still with Windows XP (long story
short, corporate decision), while my two co-writers are both on Windows 7
platforms. It doesn't bother me and even has at least one advantage.

That advantage is in Windows XP, where I can view images saved as pdf files
directly when using the View "Thumbnails" option while in Windows Explorer.
In Windows 7, this cannot be done. That is, the thumbnails for pdf files
(anything as a pdf) displays only an icon of a sheet of paper with the
letters "pdf".
Is there a setting to change in Windows 7 to make it like Windows XP (at
least in this respect)?
