change PowerPoint from 4:3 to 16:9 without stretching images

Anybody know how to do this?

I found this:

but if I edit the XML that way PowerPoint says the file has an problem
and it can't repair it.

I have PowerPoint for Mac 2011 14.4.3. I suppose I could try the
Windows version, I think my license lets me install that as well.
