That's what Unicode is for.

Though as I said before, in particular case, the problem is that
they're not using the HTML character sequence. If they used ®
instead of pasting an invalid character the HTML would display
correctly regardless of application or operating system.

I'm surprised to see such old-school charset confusion in 2015.
