Yes to all. But I have never heard a good word about Adobe customer
support. I think I'll just keep digging.

Can you update the book without errors before renaming the file?
Are files on your local drive (not on a network drive)?
Are the files checked out of any source control system?
Are the files not flagged read-only?
After you rename the file in FM, can you see in the file system that
it has been renamed and has the correct .fm extension?
If the answer to each of those questions is "yes," contact Adobe phone
support.
