"Software technical writing" in the form of authoring ponderous "how to use our product" printed manuals or PDFs probably is dying.

Software technical writing in the form of specifications, API documents, OLH, UI dialogs and various "why this program stinks and here's how to make it work" third party books (most likely Kindle or other ebooks) will probably be with us forever.
