Re: Large Flare projects (2,000+ pages)

I am thinking about using Flare to develop a series of tutorials and
products centered on Chinese characters. Of course this would be a language
training thing, not a technical communication thing.

There are about 2000 to 3000 characters that a learner needs to know to
read news.

A learner in a US college program will learn from 600 to 1200 of them per
year.

750 to 1100 will allow someone to get by for everyday purposes in China,
for a while.

There are a total of 5500 to 6000 unique ones. A Chinese literature BA from
a China university will know 4500 to 5000 of them.

For comparison: the 2000 basic Japanese Kanji, which resemble the
characters, are similar in function to the 3000 Hanzi. Japanese also has a
spelling system that is used in conjunction with their Kanji.
